Our journey of Lent

It’s rather funny how much people like Ash Wednesday. I heard someone joke once that it’s just about Catholics loving “free stuff”, whether it’s palm fronds or ashes.

I think it’s a deeper need we all have to take stock of the spiritual dimension of our lives.

At New Year’s, people tend to focus on physical health. And in my realm, on career and business goals.

But Lent is a great time to work on that spiritual part.

Last year, I gave up news for Lent. Just as an experiment, really, because of how stressed I was feeling about … well, everything.

It was a good spiritual exercise, and it changed my relationship with the outside world. Far more important than giving up chocolate or coffee.

So how can we make Lent the best time of this year for our spiritual health?
