Lead us to heaven

This is Good Shepherd Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Easter. We don’t tend to think very deeply about the term Shepherd, treating it as just one of the many names we use for Christ.

But we are the sheep in this metaphor. And sheep aren’t, well, very honored. We view them as rather dumb.

Which is actually appropriate. When it comes to spiritual wisdom, we tend to rate rather poorly. Well, maybe it’s just me.

We’re asking our Lord to lead us all to heaven. All of us, no exceptions.

But Jesus has warned us that the way is narrow and there’s only one Good Shepherd. How am I do at following Him? Let’s just say that every day is challenging for me.

And just when I think I’m doing OK, I go and do something that’s spiritually dumb.

But, I’ll continue to listen for my Shepherd’s voice, which is always calling in love.
