Our mother Mary is most amazing because of her purity of heart. The image I have is that, for her, saying “yes” to God was not really a hard decision at all.
Because her heart was focused on her Lord.
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” — Luke 1:38
Our faith tells us that her role is absolutely unique in the entire history of humanity. And there’s no question she was an actual real person who lived at a specific time and in a specific place.
That means that purity of heart is achievable for us as well. Yes, even for me.
But how much do I really want it?
That’s the struggle.
