Our sign of the cross seems like an imcomplete sentence: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
But WHAT exactly is in the name?
For me, the most powerful beginning to this sentence is: I strive to live my life in the name …
I suppose I could also say: I submit my following prayers in the name …
But that feels weak! It’s about as powerful as “Hey, God, I’m talking to You now.” And an Amen would be just “Over and out!”
I want even my little three-second Sign of the Cross to have more meaning than that. So I do it a little slower, a little more thoughtfully.
And I want to live my life in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
That’s what I’m called to do.
