Prepare the way

“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.” — Luke 3:4

On this Second Sunday of Advent, we anticipate the birth of God’s only Son to become part of humanity.

It’s an amazing and unique event in the entire history of the world.

I remember that the word “Lord” in this passage is referring to God, not Jesus. So this is about Jesus as the one to make the path for humanity towards God. A straight path.

I imagine that this is the reason why Christianity was originally known as “The Way”. Because, simply, it’s the way of God. And the way to God.

I pray that my faith will help me follow Jesus on the path to God. Amen.
