The Kingdom

“Seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Do not be afraid any longer, little flock,
for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.”

Luke 12:31-32

Jesus is speaking here not just to the twelve apostles, but to all His followers. Which means all of us who are working to follow His teachings.

What is the Kingdom of God, exactly? Despite this being a core of Jesus’ teachings, we’re still trying to figure it out 2000 years later. He talked about what it’s like – a great many adjectives and parables.

But clearly, it’s something we’re not meant to ever clearly understand, just to continue growing towards.

I suppose it’s similar to anything that’s truly complex; we never get to the bottom of it. We’d like to understand stars and planets and galaxies, but keep finding new mysteries. And new questions to ask.

But Jesus is pretty clear about how to move toward the Kingdom, and it basically comes down to love.

Love your God and love your neighbor.
