Yesterday was our celebration of all the saints, and today we’ve expanded it to All Souls.
It seems to be a uniquely Catholic tradition: spending a day considering ALL of humanity. Each and every one of us.
Even people who didn’t make it to heaven. Because we have to pray for everyone on The Journey, through all time and all space.
As a science fiction nerd, I also wonder about all beings who have souls. Because we don’t know for certain that we won’t encounter other beings who have souls and are on the same journey as we are.
I also find comfort in thinking that, just for today, Catholics around the world are praying for me as well. And in the past and in the future.
Perhaps we will meet in the next life. I can only hope.
And have faith.
